oh, do i love thee, southern california. yes; yes i do.

i got to see so many friends this time around: the thanksgiving dinner partay-hartay at marie callendar's was amazing! way to go for friends! thanksgiving day was fantastic as well, having been allowed to attend two filipino parties. but i definitely feel ten pounds heavier. but also ten pounds happier (not that you can measure happiness, but hell, you all know what i mean).

shout outs (in no particular order):
-mo-jo: where the hell would i have been without you?! everything that happened this thanksgiving break could not have been possible without your understanding. thank you for the great times; i love you!

-felsh: your dog + toys = hours of fun for you, joe, and me :) thanks so much for everything!

-jaaaaaay: in your busy schedule, you made sure to stop by at my birthday dinner. i am so thankful to have such a caring friend! thank you for the presents, and i am so blessed to have you as my best friend.

-evan: congrats on your eagle scout! you make me so proud! heehee. and happy birthday again.

-kevin: mr. festive, you! aren't you so proud that i ate the grilled lemon turkey dinner with asparagus? mmhmm... i knew i would make you proud.

-kim: we are so hot doing our asparagus dance. i mean, really now... it was just dazzling! and don't forget starbuck's!

-ross: even though i didn't get to see you, i wished you the best on your audition. you're awesome, and i hope to see you soon. rosine's? yeah? :)

-andrew: thanks mini bro, for hanging out with me for the duration of my visit. you aren't so mini anymore, but you're still my cute bro.

-navneet: daddykins! oh, we are so getting the next grammy award for "go away, oil of olay". i mean, come on: whodoesn't love the beat?

-vivian: thank you for being so understanding! i know it was kind of a drag for you to be my means of transportation and such, but i wholly enjoyed your company. i'm glad you came to my birthday lunch!

-ogi: i'm so glad i got to spend time with you this thanksgiving break! send me the rodney+ogi pics; i'm sure they are hot.

ate: your attendance at my birthday dinner was most appreciated. i am so glad you came! thank you for spending time with me. your mashed potatoes are the best!

-mikey: i finally got to see you after like, two friggin years. i'm so glad that we are still able to just chat and have a great time. you're definitely coming to my summer party :)

-brutha [one]: thanks for the gifts! although our encounters were short-lived, they still meant a lot to me. thank you for spending time with me.

-brutha 3: your witty remarks are the seed of my laughter. thanks so much for the gifts, and it was most enjoyable spending time with you. i better see you again soon (since we are only one hour apart from each other).

-pierce: oh, boy was it good to see you! and your hair is just the cutest thing EVER. thank you for spending time with me this break. i missed you so much!

-bates: sooo glad to see you! although i didn't get to spend much time with you, i am glad to know that you are doing well. don't work too hard, okay?

-kody: thank you SOOO much for attending my birthday dinner. it made such a huge difference for me. i'm so glad we got to spend time with each other :) i love my owner!

-matthew rementilla villacarillo: it was so nice seeing you! it's been so long since i last hung out with you. i miss you dearly, and i hope everything works out for you.

-ashley: the whole thing with the plant at marie callendar's (remember when you pretended that it was the rainforest and you did the exotic pose?) was way funny. i'm so glad i got to spend time with you!

-gab: you looked way spiffy in your tux, dude. freakin' sweet. next time around, we definitely have to do starbuck's. deal? awesome.

-everyone else at the thanksgiving dinner: i hate to categorize you all like this, but there were just too many people! all of you; thanks for the many laughs and the great memories. i only hope you had as much fun as i did!

if i missed you, you need to tell me. because chances are, my brain is just fried.

it was so good to be home. i miss it already.

wow. if you ever get a chance, don't read my old poems. stay away. lol. in fact, even if you were curious enough to check after reading this post, there is not an easy way to do so-- the site where i had my old poems hosted has changed and all the archives have just recently been transferred. so what does that mean? more html work for me. and maybe i'll think of a better way to host my old poems. oh, and it will be done.

so thanksgiving break is coming up... tomorrow! yay! well, actually, that's what i want to say. but really, i actually want winter break to come. thanksgiving break is great in that i get to get away from davis and see old friends and have a jolly old time. but then, i start to ponder my finals week schedule and i just want to run away. seriously, it's nuts. i don't know if i want to face it just yet. there was a comic in today's aggie, and it basically outlined a typical student's thanksgiving week: "monday's midterm" (which was a dungeon), "tuesday's midterm" (which was a fire-breathing bat), "wednesday's midterms" (which was a monster), and a turkey dinner locked inside a cage, and the monster has the key around his neck. and here's this little guy holding nothing but a shield. mmhmm. exactly how i feel.

but there is one thing i cannot wait for: the food. the drool on my calculus homework is proof enough.

i love music composition! it's really a lot of fun... i can't wait until i get to hear the final product.

so temperatures are decreasing like mad in norcal, if you know what i mean. although, i shouldn't be complaining, because i'm still technically in california and really now: how could we ever be a comparison to new york or something? i mean, really. navneet's probably freexing his butt off right now. pobrecito. :) heehee. but since we californians are spoiled like this, i will still keep complaining about how cold i am and how much i want summer to come back.

oh, i had such a great experience today (11/17) in music class. well... i have three music classes, but in the first one, i was really frustrated because the people in my class were just inconsiderate. but at the end of class, my instructor wanted to play the cello for us. it's her primary instrument, so we expected a lot out of her even before she opened her cello case. and she played excerpts from pieces composed by haydn (a very gifted composer, but i personally don't enjoy his compositions as much as i do other composers) and such. and then we gave requests, and she kinda just pulled them out of her butt. she'd be like, "i don't remember the whole piece, but..." and bust out in some crazy piece. it was so frikkin' awesome. and it was actually the very first time i had heard just a cello sound (by a great celloist, mind you), this full, vibrant sound... oh, it was absolutely gorgeous. and frikkin' crazy: the cello cost like, $70,000+, easy. and she was like, "if i plan to keep playing in the professional world, i would need to upgrade to a better cello, which goes from about $100,000..." and my friend in class was like, "...or maybe buy myself a nice-ass car?! yeah, that's what i'd rather do." and that should really put things into perspective, right?

but it made me want to play the cello so much... that's it: my kid is SO playing the cello. :-D

i'm such a loser ra. i love myself :)

my fellow ra friends, joey, spoon, tish, and her eight year-old sister, emelia, went to ihop tonight. it was so much fun having emelia around... who would have thought that those kid's meal coloring fun things are challenging? i can honestly say that i had some fun doing those. and emelia drew a wonderful picture of manly joey. i've got to scan it and put it on this site for all to see. i mean, it's a masterpiece. it must be public knowledge, how artistically inclined emelia is. (i love kids who draw ginormous heads and microscopic bodies, purple chest hair, and stick figure dogs peeing on a black fire hydrant. that's wonderful, yes. really.)

i want to be a kid again!!!

... whoa. i'm going to be turning twenty in less than a month. weird... i don't even look seventeen. -__-

it seems like i have been neglecting my poor little blog. but i haven't really. i have a lot to say everyday. i want closure to my days. but i just don't have time. when i'm done with one pile of stuff to do, i have another one pending. and they are just queued up, waiting for me to get my hands on them. but i've got myself ten minutes. and i'm going to use the ten minutes wisely... by writing in my blog.

what's been going on with me? i'll go through the good stuff first. i got to see the laramie project as a theater production here at uc davis. i was way excited, because i had read the book and it was just simply amazing. i cried reading it, and that has never happened to me before, reading a play, let alone a book. so having known how impacting the book was, seeing the production just deepened my understanding of the play. i enjoyed it thoroughly.

the bad stuff? making mistakes on the job. being held accountable (for what is not fully my fault). no time. no sleep. no time to eat. two english classes + three music classes + one math class + one ra class + being a ra= mai spazzing out on the floor.

but i am so glad and proud of myself for what i accomplished this week. so... basically, my ra friends and i found this posting saying that our dining commons head chef's house had completely burned down due to an electrical fire, and all the belongings that the chef was left with were the clothes on his back. i felt that it was a time for the staff to come together as one and help our chef out in his time of need. so i told everyone on my staff about helping him out, and i got all these donations from everyone, people signed cards, and i felt like we were all coming together as one staff to help the chef. and then today, my sra (senior resident advisor) and i went to target and got him a gift certificate for $150 (mind you, this was collected within a short time span of five days) so he can supply himself with everyday necessities. i am giving the signed card and the gift card to him tomorrow.

i feel so good about that. i did it because the chef is essential to our community. he gives so much to us, and i can only hope that we can reciprocate half of all that he has done. i hope he likes our gifts.
